Whether young or young at heart, you are never too old to start regular exercising.
Most people realize that there are many benefits of exercising on a regular basis, however many still choose to not do so. Here are some reasons on how our health can benefit from this exercise which hopefully will encourage more people to start.
For all of my life, I find it hard to be motivated n to exercise. However, over the past couple of years I started a fitness routine and have not only enjoyed it (to my surprise) but have never felt so healthy.
And it was quite simple. 30 minutes a day of walking. I started out strolling, but now I stride it out. The first few days I found myself panting, but now on some of the longer days I even jog a little , using the lamp posts as a guide. Jog 1 post, walk 2 posts, or whatever feels good at the time.
I now exercise almost every day, with bad weather being the only reason I don’t go for my walk.
I alternate days with a longer and shorter walk. On the shorter days when I get back, I do some muscle exercise with resistance bands.Â
And when it does rain, I have found a longer work out on the verandah with resistance bands is giving helping my upper body get stronger.
The last few minutes of my walk I slow down to a stroll to allow myself a bit of a cool down, and then I do some gentle stretching in the garden using a mat and even some easy yoga.
The benefits of exercise:
- Helps to lower levels of stress
- Helps to improve posture
- Helps sleep
- Helps you to gain stronger muscles
- Increases heart and lung efficiency
- Lowers the risk of heart disease and lung disease
- Helps overall circulation
- Helps to reduce blood pressure
- Helps people to lose weight
- Helps to reduce depression
- Helps to reduce cholesterol levels
- Helps to reduce symptoms of arthritis
There are many reasons as to why people should start to exercise. These are only a few out of many health benefits.
Even though the thought of the exercise does not totally thrill me, the benefits are huge. It is a strange situation, the thought of starting the exercise but afterwards I feel brilliant. Despite this, I then find it hard to begin to exercise again on the next day. It is weird!
It is not as hard as one might think. I would strongly advise other people to also start exercising, by just going around the block or for a 30 minute stroll around the neighborhood. After a few days you will notice it becomes easier.
I hope that they find it as rewarding and beneficial as I have.
